The incident took place on Thursday as the aircraft descended to land on a runway at Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth, in Texas. The video posted online shows the F-35B jet slowly coming down to land before the front of its undercarriage appeared to buckle as it hit the tarmac, causing the aircraft to spin wildly. The pilot, who has not been named, then activated their ejector seat and was thrown from the cockpit, spending seven seconds airborne before landing with the parachute partially opening to cushion the fall....
Footage reportedly showed authorities working to get the trailer down safely, according to KIIITV. The vehicle was reportedly empty when the incident happened. The dangling trailer damaged the sidewall of the highway. The San Antonio Fire Department spokesperson said that there were no injuries or other car crashes. Meanwhile, a hazardous materials response crew was called to the scene to clean a fuel spill, according to authorities.
