Bertie Gilbert shared this video on Twitter, which perfectly encapsulates the uncomfortable transitions that gamers had once been so accustomed to. Since it was posted on July 5th, it has seen over 32k retweets and 155k likes, numbers which are much higher than any of their other tweets.

The video shows what players will instantly recognize represents the end of a cutscene. The character puts their hat back on, says a final line as the camera dramatically pans around them, and then proceeds to bug out once the cutscene is over. This kind of stuttering was all too common and even still shows up at times in the current generation.

More likely than not this is a thing of the past, however, as next-generation consoles are shaping up to be incredibly powerful. The PS5’s SSD, for example, is said to afford it 100 times faster loading speeds than the PS4 pro.
