The below were the games that were released between 2009 to 2018 for the Call of Duty series from Activision:

2018 – Black Ops 42017 – WWII2016 – Infinite Warfare2015 – Black Ops III2014 – Advanced Warfare2013 – Ghosts2012 – Black Ops II2011 – Modern Warfare 32010 – Black Ops2009 – Modern Warfare 2

Since Modern Warfare 2, the series kept placing the premise of each game more and more into the future. Infinite Warfare was set far into the future, focusing on space warfare, futuristic weapons and space colonization. The series went back to its World War 2 roots with its 2017 release of WW 2. The latest release, Black Ops 4, features a rich story from the Black Ops series as well as a new Battle Royale called Blackout.

Activision did have a rocky road while getting here. It’s 2013 entry Ghosts and 2016 entry Infinite Warfare were negatively received among fans, especially after the high bar they set with the Black Ops and Modern Warfare series. When Infinite Warfare released, Call of Duty lost to competing Battlefield 1 whose game setting was in World War 1. It seems like Call of Duty fans were just not happy with futuristic settings.

The sales account for physical sales within the US, not digital. We don’t quite know how well Call of Duty has faired worldwide but it seems like it does well enough to still be a long-surviving series.
