The video has been liked 1.5 million times so far. In the background, the song It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year by Andy Williams is played. The content started with the mother pulling a small sled in the snow with her child sitting in a seat with a big coat, hood, and a hat on with furry shoes.
“When Mommy takes you sledding vs. when Daddy takes you sledding,” the wording appeared on the screen. The baby seemed to be enjoying herself as she was slowly pulled by the mother. The screen also read “Mommy,” along with more content of the baby girl being gently pulled along.
Suddenly, the video cut to the words, “Daddy,” on the screen as the father goes down a steep hill in a sled in the snow while holding his child. The mother captured their full descent, and the baby ended up with snow on her face, looking rather upset.
There is also a part two to the situation with the word “Payback” in the caption. The mother made a snow angel in the snow while holding the baby. Viewers even saw the baby placed in the snow. Then when it’s Dad’s turn, the mom threw a snowball in his face.
The Nationwide Children’s Hospital reported that a study done at the Center for Injury Research and Policy discovered there were 220,488 people treated in emergency rooms for injuries from sledding from 2008 to 2017 in the United States. Of those, almost 70 percent were children who were 19 or younger.
Over 10,000 people have commented on the viral sledding TikTok video so far. A lot of people see the humor in the situation, but not everyone agrees.
“Kids need both experiences to figure out where they stand,” a viewer insisted.
One TikToker made light of the situation. “Something’s wrong with the snow shield…It’s crying,” they said.
“You’re not a parent if you didn’t laugh,” another viewer expressed.
Others had comments like, “Precisely why kids need both a mom and a dad,” and “I love this.”
However, not everyone saw the humor in the situation. “As a trauma pedi nurse—no. Just no. This is not safe,” a viewer said.
“Omg not at eight months!” another TikTok user wrote in the comments.
