The singer-songwriter, 27, was overcome with emotion at Trisha Yearwood’s surprise invitation on stage on Saturday night in a heartwarming clip that is being widely shared on social media today.

Longtime member Yearwood walked on stage and asked the musician: “I have the honor—you’re gonna make me cry—I have the honor of asking you on behalf of the Grand Ole Opry if you would please accept our invitation to become the newest member?”

Alaina dropped to her knees with emotion as Yearwood joked: “The is sort of like a wedding proposal; you have to say yes.”

The singer, of course, eventually managed to respond with an enthusiastic: “Yes!”

“I have not cried like this in a really long time, I guess I needed it,” she said on the stage.

“I’m not kidding, I was backstage and I was like, ‘Can you please tell the Opry the only thing I want is to be a member of the Grand Ole Opry.’ Then I snotted on stage over it.”

The Grand Ole Opry, a Nashville institution, shared the footage on Facebook where it has racked up more than 300,000 views.

While over on Twitter, the clip is amassing thousands of likes and views after Alaina herself shared the touching moment.

“I have watched this video ten times (at least) and I still can’t believe it. I cry every time I watch. Thank you again to the @opry, @trishayearwood, and @tmac2. One of the most MEMBERable moments of my life,” she tweeted.

The footage shows the “Road Less Traveled” hitmaker hyperventilating and struggling to speak following Yearwood’s invitation.

“I felt like Bambi,” she told People afterward. “My knees … all of a sudden, I [had] to get closer to the floor. Then it was, ‘There’s a slit in my dress, stand back up.’ That’s all I could think.”

The singer’s parents were in the crowd and when Yearwood acknowledged them, that’s when Alaina said she knew something was going on.

“She said my dad was here, and I was embarrassed because I’m like, ‘My dad’s not here, and this is so awkward,’” Alaina said. “She said, ‘No, your dad is here.’ I saw him. I thought, ‘There’s no way she’s about to ask me to be a member.’”

As for Yearwood, Alaina said they could not have picked a better person to give her the honor.

“They could not have picked a better person to ask me,” Alaina said. “She’s been the best person to have in my corner. She was like, ‘You have to sing a couple of more songs.’ I was like, ‘I cannot. I don’t even know what songs they are.’”
